I Am. I Can. I Will.

I Am. I Can. I Will. – The Power of Self-Talk

As a mom of four, I’ve always wanted to instill confidence and resilience in my kids. Life is full of challenges, from school tests and big games to trying something new for the first time. I wanted them to always carry with them a simple yet powerful reminder that they are capable of overcoming anything life throws their way.

That’s how our family mantra was born: I am. I can. I will.

The Meaning Behind the Mantra

I am. This is about identity and self-worth. “I am strong. I am capable. I am enough.” The way we see ourselves shapes our confidence and how we approach the world.

I can. This is about belief. “I can learn. I can grow. I can handle this.” Knowing that we have the ability to improve and rise to the occasion is half the battle.

I will. This is about action. “I will try. I will show up. I will not give up.” It’s the final push to take that first step forward.

A Mantra for Every Stage of Life

This mantra isn’t just for my kids. It’s for all of us. Whether you're a child facing a test, an athlete preparing for a big game, a mom juggling a million responsibilities, or a woman daring to pursue a dream, these words hold power.

  • Before my kids take a test, they say: I am ready. I can do this. I will do my best.

  • Before stepping onto the field or court: I am strong. I can give it my all. I will not give up.

  • Before tackling a hard conversation: I am worthy. I can express myself. I will speak with confidence.

  • Even on days when getting out of bed feels hard: I am enough. I can take one step at a time. I will get through this.

The Power of Self-Talk

Our words matter—especially the ones we tell ourselves. Negative self-talk can hold us back, but positive self-talk can push us forward. By teaching our children (and ourselves) to reframe thoughts and affirm our own strength, we empower ourselves to take on life’s challenges with confidence.

So next time you or your little one faces a tough moment, take a deep breath and say it out loud: I am. I can. I will.

With Love,

Brittany
